In trying times such as the present owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, Tata Steel is supplying up to 300 tonnes of medical oxygen every day to hospitals across Jharkhand and other states. The company is providing liquid medical oxygen which is crucial in the treatment of the patients infected by the virus. The company's CEO and Managing Director T V Narendran said that apart from Jharkhand, the company is supplying oxygen to Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha and West Bengal as well.
The country's largest two-wheeler maker Hero MotoCorp on Tuesday said it is temporarily stopping operations at all its manufacturing facilities across the country, including its Global Parts Center (GPC), in the wake of a surge in COVID-19 cases across India. The company has six manufacturing units located at Dharuhera and Gurugram, Haryana; Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh; Haridwar in Uttarakhand; Neemrana in Rajasthan, and Halol in Gujarat with a total yearly production capacity of 90 lakh units, as per its annual report.

Besides, the airline announced that passengers can now do unlimited changes for new bookings made till April 30, 2021, on regular fares under this offer. India`s economy is projected to grow at the historically high level of 12.5 percent this fiscal year, but the International Monetary Fund`s (IMF) Chief Economist Gita Gopinath cautioned that the current wave of the pandemic "is quite concerning." The growth projection was raised on the basis of "evidence we were getting in the last couple of months in terms of the normalisation of economic activity," she said at the release of the World Economic Outlook (WEO) report on Tuesday in Washington. On April 6, airline major IndiGo’s services were stalled at Goa airport after staff at subsidiary Agile Airport Services Pvt Ltd, went on a strike. The low-cost airline has reportedly re-scheduled departures from the airport in the state. Confirming this development, the airline said in a statement that employees of Agile "have always received their salaries on time. We have not had any terminations even during the pandemic over the last year." The airline added that flights are operating on schedule after 'a slight delay.'

Equity benchmarks Sensex and Nifty ended marginally higher on Tuesday, tracking high volatility amid concerns over the economic impact of the second wave of coronavirus infections in the country. After swinging around 646 points during the day, the 30-share BSE Sensex settled 42.07 points or 0.09 per cent higher at 49,201.39. The broader NSE Nifty advanced 45.70 points or 0.31 per cent to 14,683.50. Asian Paints was the top gainer in the Sensex pack, rising 4 per cent, followed by Sun Pharma, HUL, HDFC, Dr Reddy's, Nestle India and M&M.
